MAISON DES VAUTOURS
In the 1970s, several species of vultures were reintroduced into the Jonte gorges and are protected by the Cévennes National Park. The House of Vultures, formerly called Belvedere of Vultures, is entirely dedicated to them. These raptors are visible from the observation deck but also through three mobile cameras installed on a nest, a perch and a feeding area. Visitors can observe griffon vultures, monk, Egyptian vulture and the bearded vulture. The visits are commented, the museum of more than 1000m3 allows to learn more about the vulture, its reintroduction, its environment and its history in Lozère.

At the Maison des Vautours, come discover and observe these majestic birds and their fabulous history! Located in the heart of the Jonte Gorges in Lozère, in a three-story building designed to hug the rock face, you'll discover:
- A completely renovated museum where you'll learn more about these birds: their appearance, physiology, and how they are perceived around the world, as well as the story of their disappearance and the epic tale of their reintroduction;
- An observation deck equipped with telescopes to admire the vultures in their natural environment, in complete freedom;
- A projection room where you'll be shown the video we created using images recorded by our cameras located in the cliffs;
- Access to a unique panorama of the Jonte Gorges, a listed site.

- A recently renovated museum where you can learn more about these birds – their physiognomy, their physiology, the way they are perceived in the world as well as the story of the disappearance and the journey for their reintroduction.
- An observation spot with spyglasses to admire the vultures in their natural habitat, in complete liberty.
- A movie room where you can watch the video we made thanks to our cameras in the cliffs.
- An access to a unique panoramic view onto Gorges de la Jonte

Our establishment has the Tourism & Disability label, meaning we have easy access from our parking lot located 50 meters away and an elevator.
The parking lot is also accessible to people with reduced mobility.

We are located in the heart of the Jonte Gorges, downstream from the village of Le Truel, on the RD996, between Le Rozier and Meyrueis.
- 3 km from the village of Le Rozier, towards Meyrueis.
- 15 km from the village of Meyrueis, towards Millau.
- 25 km from the A75 motorway heading North/South, exit 44bis Meyrueis.
- 30 km from the A75 motorway heading South/North, exit 47 Millau Centre.
Two free parking lots are available.
Access by bus
In July and August, the Maison des Vautours is accessible every day with the LiO tourist shuttle (line 215).
